The main cause is the excessive production of sebum, an oily substance that helps maintain skin and hair lubricated and supple. The oil blocks the production of sebum on the skin’s surface, but can provide an ideal environment for bacterial growth. The bacteria proliferate, and the skin area becomes red and swollen, and then get acne.
Role of testosterone
Excessive sebum production caused by testosterone, the male hormone. However, testosterone is present in both men and women. During puberty changes a body’s reaction to testosterone, making more sebum. This reaction is common, especially during puberty, causing the skin – especially in the face and upper body to be bold. As this would be difficult to understand.
Then combine with the natural sebum and skin cells, the blocked hair follicles die. The bodies usually set reaction testosterone through the 20-century and then the acne decreases.
Theory of hair follicle
Reduction of hair follicles may be involved in the production of acne – said recent scientific theory. The evidence suggests that the roots of the hair may be limited for several reasons, including excessive removal of the cells in the follicle, abnormal cell binding, or fluid retention caused by small amounts of skin.
Narrowing of the hair follicle prevents dead cells from being eliminated from the body, creating a buildup of skin. Combined with sebum, creating ideal conditions for acne.
Worse
Many people can not stop popping pimples. This can exacerbate the condition through the spread of bacteria in the skin environment. It can also cause scarring, sometimes remaining permanently.
Even touching the face can aggravate acne. Without knowing it, most people only touch the face many times during the day. The problem is that our hands contain oils and bacteria that increase the acne symptoms. In fact, everything, including eyeglasses and telephone handsets, when they make contact with the face they must be cleaned first.
Hair, particularly long hair, touching the face, so it is important to keep hair clean and oil free. Substances in hats and headbands should be avoided or used sparingly.
Another factor
Elements that seem to worsen the condition of acne is included diet, skin irritation, stress levels, hormonal activities like menstrual cycles, and even some medications.
A dietary supplement has related products such as skim milk to be associated with acne. No statistical evidence, however, foods like chocolate and fast food a relationship with acne or aggravate acne.
Drugs associated with causing acne include anabolic steroids (used in bodybuilding) and lithium, barbiturates also halogens, and self-androgens.
